The third annual Veeplaas Intensive Sheep Production School

The third annual Veeplaas Intensive Sheep Production School, was held in Bloemfontein from the 10th to the 12th of April 2018.  The agenda of the first two days was occupied by informative talks, by a variety of experienced speakers. The topics and themes of each of the sessions did not only focus on animal related topics – such as animal health, nutrition and reproduction, but also on practical and economic aspects, such as project management, facilities and equipment, finances, marketing and value addition in terms of branding of products.  On the last day, the popular sheep artificial insemination course was presented by Ramsem, to a limited number of participants.

This year, however, a few welcome additions have been made to take the Veeplaas Intensive Sheep Production School, to the next level.  A smaller, separate master’s class was presented parallel to the normal session in Bloemfontein, with the intention of providing previous Veeplaas Intensive Sheep Production School attendees, with further high level technical information in an informal, but very interactive setting.

Further to that, two extra Veeplaas Intensive Sheep Production Schools will be held in Pietermaritzburg and Port Elizabeth in May/June and July 2018, respectively.  Similar to previous years, the Veeplaas Intensive Sheep Production School in Bloemfontein was well attended – by both prospective as well as established sheep farmers, with the maximum capacity of 125 attendees being filled relatively quickly.  The gala evening also proved to be a highly spirited, exciting event.

Zoetis is honoured, to be one of the sponsors of the Veeplaas Intensive Sheep Production School.
